Where does the time go?

February 6, 2012 Fun 4 Comments

After 858 days, today was my first day back in the real world.

I have a job!

Actually, I’m pretty darn excited about it. Rather than apply for every job I felt remotely qualified for, I had the luxury of hand-choosing a job where I knew I’d be happy. If the last 2+ years proved anything, it’s that life is too short to go to a job you hate.

Sure, I was in a financial place that allowed me to be choosy, but that didn’t happen overnight either. I’ve always been a frugal person. I’ve had a job since fourth grade (paper route!) and have always been a saver. I left my last job with no debt and my DNA does not include the shopping gene. I’ve saved and done without for a long time, and it was absolutely worth it to be able to enjoy my time off as much as I did.

(Also, THANK YOU GREG for paying the mortgage!)

I’m back in a marketing role and it just feels right. I’m working at a small company called Beaducation. They provide online training classes and all the equipment you need to make your own jewelry. The office environment inspires creativity, the people I’m working with are so talented, and I know I’ve got the marketing experience needed to help grow the business.

Take a look at the website to see the cool projects people are working on. I also didn’t come with a creative gene, so I hope some of that wears off on me. As part of my on-the-job training, I get to make some jewelry. Fun!

I’ll keep blogging here with updates on Ironman training, Daily sMiles, and the usual antics. Let the next chapter begin!
